Fly fishing mentors to help troubled Salt Lake kids

What a great program being offered to “court-involved” kids by the Village Project, a mentor program sponsored by the 3rd District Juvenile Court that will serve residents of Salt Lake County.

From the Salt Lake Tribune:

“Getting out on the water is a way for me to clear my heard and focus on what I’m doing in that moment,” he said. “Maybe it would help kids with a lot of troubles. Especially if it becomes something they want to do all the time and keeps them off the couch and the streets.”

The new fly-fishing program is a part of the Village Project, a mentor program sponsored by the 3rd District Juvenile Court that will serve residents of Salt Lake County. Village Project was started in 1994 and has served more than 450 youth by matching them up with life mentors. The Stonefly Society, the Trout Unlimited chapter in the Salt Lake Valley, is a partner in the new venture.
